A Painting for Agape Animal Rescue
I was contacted by one of the board members to create a portrait of Mack, the yellow lab, as a gift for their director to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the organization. Mack has a very special meaning for Agape. It was his rescue that inspired the organization to be founded. You can see his story at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAX7ktYy1qo#t=21 or visit the group’s site at: http://www.agaperescue.org. They are located in the Nashville area and do wonderful work helping animals.
This was to be a large portrait, 18″ x 24″ in size, which needs a fair amount of lead time. The event where they wanted to make the presentation was going to be too soon to complete the painting properly, so instead I prepared the sketch and sent it to them to give on the event date with the final painting being delivered at a later date.
I often recommend this as a solution when someone wants to give a gift of a portrait but doesn’t have enough time to do the job up to the standards I set. It has the advantage of allowing the recipient to get all excited about the present in anticipation, and even to take part in the creative process with input. I also will suggest that when the gift giver doesn’t have good photos of the pet, they give a gift certificate instead.
You are extremely talented Hope :)…. I will be getting you soon to paint our 3rd havanese 🙂
That would be great Leigh looking forward to painting Alice and Jasper’s “sibling”.
