Underpainting for Ruby

This is the roughing in stage of my painting of Ruby. I find Cavaliers particularly easy to paint–I think because their faces are quite human in some ways. Unlike many breeds, their eyes show much more of the white part like ours do. And there is also something about the rounded shape of their heads.

I had planned to take a photo earlier–but before I knew it the overall painting was already taking shape.
