More work on Ruby
More work on Ruby I've come quite a ways with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel painting. When I start working into a painting--I tend to start with the eyes first. I feel like if I can get those where I want them--the rest will follow.
Underpainting for Ruby
Underpainting for Ruby This is the roughing in stage of my painting of Ruby. I find Cavaliers particularly easy to paint--I think because their faces are quite human in some ways. Unlike many breeds, their eyes show much more of the white part like ours do. And there...
Remembering Ruby, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Remembering Ruby, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Some dogs just have the sweetest faces. And that is certainly true of Ruby, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who has passed on. I was contacted by a friend of Ruby's guardian, who wished to give a pet portrait to her as...
Final portrait of Kirby

Kirby the Havanese begins

Sequoia the Labradoodle Finished
Sequoia, the labradoodle--finished painting. Lots of highlights added to make him look furry. The background is meant to be soft and impressionist in feeling. This photo doesn't quite catch the brightness of the original painting.
